Remove Fluorescent Light Fixture In Kitchen

Remove the fixture mounting screws with a nut driver or phillips screwdriver.

Turn off the breaker controlling the light circuit. Check the ends of the fixture for metal components holding it in place. Remove the cap or tab on the light if your fixture has it. The bottom of the dome may also have a nut that loosens to release the cover.

Hold the fixture s cover in place then attempt to slide the cap or tab off with your free hand. And after 16 years of living with an ugly fluorescent light box i now have an open ceiling with a pretty little light to replace it hanging in my kitchen. Use pliers to twist the locknut on the end cap counterclockwise until it pops off. When you see the side by sides it is even more amazing of a transformation.
